DEFINITION OF GRACE
When a person works an eight-hour day and receives a fair day’s pay for his time, that is a wage. When a person competes with an opponent and receives a trophy for his performance, that is a prize. When a person receives appropriate recognition for his long service or high achievements, that is an award. But when a person is not capable of earning a wage, can win no prize, and deserves no award—yet receives such a gift anyway—that is a good picture of God’s unmerited favor. This is what we mean when we talk about the grace of God. “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

SENTENCE SERMONS
If it “goes without saying,” don’t insist on repeating it!
Experience is the name that everyone gives to his or her mistakes.
God is just as concerned about your usability as your ability.
A smile is the magic language that even a baby understands.
The only way to avoid criticism is to think nothing, say nothing, and do nothing.
It’s what you learn after you know it all that really counts.
Too many people who depend on the church cannot be depended on by the church.

A TEACHING MOMENT
All the way home in the back seat of the car the young boy was very quiet. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, “The preacher said he wanted us all to be brought up in a Christian home, but I wanted to stay with you guys.”

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Serving on the Executive Committee is both challenging and rewarding. It will soon be time to select some new committee members. If asked to serve, please prayerfully consider your response

NEWSLETTER OPTIONS
In May 2011, in an effort to reduce postage expenses, MFC began distributing The Builder via e-mail. There are currently 170 e-mail subscribers and 165 regular mail subscribers. With the recent U.S postage cost rising to 66 cents, it would be financially beneficial if more of the 165 regular mail subscribers considered switching to an e-mail subscription. This would save not only postage but paper, envelopes, toner, and labor! If you are able to switch to email, please contact judyclay01@gmail.com to provide your name, e-mail address and phone number.
